Feldenkrais is about many things, but most importantly it is about learning how to learn.
The Feldenkrais Method’s teachings use your own movement as a way to gain awareness of how you sense, think, feel and act in your environment. Often we do not have any idea how we do things and it is rare that we should ask ourselves the question; could this be easier?
If you were to ask anyone if they wished to sit more comfortably at work, think with greater clarity during exams, go for a run without effort, problem solve more efficiently, return to a favourite sport... many would answer YES!
Most people come to The Feldenkrais Method due to injury or trauma that has necessitated a need to learn how to move again. Rarely does a full functioning healthy individual question how they move and if it could be easier. Typically we seek self-refinement and self-improvement after illness, injury and trauma when it is needed the most. However this process of enhancing quality of life need not be exclusive to repairing and mending our body. This process can occur within anyone at anytime regardless of ability level and age.
Feldenkrais is for you if you want the opportunity to explore and refine your ability to sense, think, feel, and move in your environment. Such explorations and refinements give you the potential to have easier, more efficient and even maybe more elegant strategies for living. |
